Above and beyond all -- Paul E. Gierucki, who's wealth of information, collected primary sources, and personal drive to restored Roscoe Arbuckle and his fims, has superceded all that had come before.

The "Arbuckemania" filmography of Roscoe Arbuckle is based largely on Samuel A Gill's filmographies from David Yallop's THE DAY THE LAUGHTER STOPPED: THE TRUE STORY OF FATTY ARBUCKLE (1976), and Andy Edmonds' FRAME UP! THE UNTOLD STORY OF ROSCOE "FATTY" ARBUCKLE (1993).

The Yallop and Edmonds books are also the primary sources for information about the 1921 scandal, and the trials that followed.

If you are interested in learning more about Arbuckle's film career then you should check out ROSCOE "FATTY" ARBUCKLE: A BIOGRAPHY OF THE SILENT FILM COMEDIAN, 1877-1933 by Stuart Oderman (1994), which presents Arbuckle's life largely from the perspective of his fist wife, Minta Dufree.

ROSCOE "FATTY" ARBUCKLE: A BIO-BIBLIOGRAPHY by Robert Young, Jr. (1994), is a must source for those who wish to do further reseach into Roscoe's life, and is the best factual source book to date.

For a personal insight into Roscoe Arbuckle one should read Buster Keaton's MY WONDERFUL WORLD OF SLAPSTICK (1960), which is the first book to reveal the many sides of what a warm-hearted man Roscoe Arbuckle was.
